A Glass of ISSIMO

A Glass of ISSIMO

A signature cocktail inspired by the Italian art of aperitivo

Some drinks are tied to a place. Others to a memory. The best ones, often, to both.

The ISSIMO cocktail, served across Hotel Il Pellicano, La Posta Vecchia and Mezzatorre, belongs to that latter category. Like ISSIMO itself, it brings together different influences, regions and sensibilities into something distinctly Italian.

At first glance, the ingredients seem almost disarmingly simple: fresh peach juice, white port infused with rosemary and a touch of Chambord. But simplicity, as Italy has long understood, is rarely plain.

The peach has always occupied a special place in the Italian summer imagination. Sweet and fragrant, it arrives at precisely the moment when the days are longest and the pace of life softens. Rosemary, meanwhile, grows almost everywhere along the peninsula: on windswept islands, in seaside gardens and along sun-baked paths overlooking the Mediterranean. Its scent is instantly transportive, capable of conjuring a summer holiday with surprising speed.

Then there is the Chambord, adding depth, colour and just enough intrigue. A reminder that even the most classic combinations occasionally benefit from an unexpected flourish.

Together, the three ingredients strike a balance that feels unmistakably Italian: bright but not overly sweet, elegant without trying too hard, familiar yet slightly surprising.

That balance sits at the heart of aperitivo culture itself. In Italy, the aperitivo has never been merely a drink before dinner. It is a ritual of transition – a moment to pause, gather and let conversation happen naturally.

At Hotel Il Pellicano, it might arrive as the sun dips behind Monte Argentario. At La Posta Vecchia, with the Tyrrhenian Sea stretching beyond the terrace. At Mezzatorre, as the volcanic silhouette of Ischia slowly turns gold.

After all, some things need very little embellishment: good company, a beautiful view and something cold in your hand.

Preferably with a sprig of rosemary.
