As the season closes at Hotel Il Pellicano, La Posta Vecchia and Mezzatorre, we look back – and look forward
There’s a moment each year, always the same and yet always different, when the season turns. We feel it especially at our hotels: The sun lingers but its warmth changes timbre, from brass to honey. The sea, too, darkens. Even the towels on the terrace take just a little longer to dry. And that is when we know: it’s time.
Time to draw the shutters, close the umbrellas, and allow Hotel Il Pellicano, Mezzatorre and La Posta Vecchia to take their long winter breath. Time to say arrivederci (not goodbye!), till spring.
Mind, this isn’t meant to sound sad. Rather, we’re a little nostalgic of the season that was, and very much hopeful, for what’s ahead.
We think of the first guests to arrive in April, carrying anticipation in their suitcases. The couples who will be returning for their tenth summer. The families whose children, once tiny swimmers, now dive from the rocks of our beautiful coast, and who we’ll see again next year.
But we also look back, at all the people who arrived at our hideaways tired, wound up, carrying the year in their shoulders, and who left just a little softer.
And of course, we think of the ones who made every moment feel effortless: our staff. If you’ve stayed with us, you know them: they are the ones who know exactly when to appear and when to disappear. The ones who understand that hospitality is not performance, but a perfectly timed choreography, an intuition, and that good hospitality is all about the art of making things feel natural.
To all of them we say Grazie.
For the grace, the humour, the early mornings, the late nights, the linen folded just so, the espresso poured at exactly the right moment, the patience, the laughter, the details seen and unseen
You do not just work at our hotels: you make them.
We’ll see you in 2026. Same view. Same sea. Same feeling of timeless summer.
