Loretta Caponi’s Creative Director celebrates the joys and simple pleasures of the authentic Italian lifestyle.

‘Authenticity’, ‘heritage’ and ‘timeless’ are among the first words that come to mind when we hear the name Loretta Caponi. The Florence-based couture and homewares company is renowned for handcrafting immaculate ready-to-wear, loungewear, tableware, and more, capturing the essence of Italy’s artisanal spirit.

Lucia Caponi, current Creative Director and daughter of the company’s founder Loretta Caponi, is the inspiring visionary who designs, sketches and develops every hand-sewn garment and product. This includes those glorious skirts, blouses and kaftans we have had the pleasure of collaborating with Lucia and her son Guido Conti Caponi (Loretta Caponi’s Chief Operating Officer) to create exclusively for ISSIMO.

Lucia’s approach to honouring Italian ‘savoir-faire’ in her designs is a constant source of inspiration for us, and it’s a pleasure to count her and Guido among our community of close friends and creative collaborators here at ISSIMO. She is also no stranger to the Pellicano Hotels universe, with Loretta Caponi products bringing their vibrant charm to our hotels’ boutiques.

“I have had truly wonderful experiences during my visits to Hotel Il Pellicano. I have also seen many photos of the other hotels, and perhaps the most fascinating for me is La Posta Vecchia. I’ll definitely have to visit soon!” Lucia says.

TOMATO & BASIL SAUCE

This is one of the most used sauces in our house. It reminds me of when we had a house in the country many years ago, and my mother would make big pots of sauce during tomato season together with the farmer’s wife who lived nearby.

I now have another country house, and I carry on this family tradition. When my son Guido comes home from a trip and I want to make him happy, I make him spaghetti with lots and lots of tomato sauce!
