New Elegance at La Posta Vecchia

New Elegance at La Posta Vecchia

Our grand lady on the coast of Palo Laziale is looking better than ever

There are few places where history, hospitality, and hedonism intertwine quite like they do at La Posta Vecchia. Once home to Roman emperors and later to oil magnate J. Paul Getty, this Renaissance villa-turned-hotel has long been a destination for those who appreciate the finer things in life: velvet-draped beds, frescoed ceilings, and the soft hush of the Tyrrhenian just outside the window.

And this season, there's something new to love (besides the hotel’s fab new restaurant Da Aurelio!). Over the winter of 2024, 14 of the villa’s 21 rooms have undergone a meticulous refresh. This wasn’t a simple renovation, mind  –it was a conversation with the past. Guided by the hotel’s in-house interior design team and personally overseen by Marie-Louise Sciò – because adding our very own personal touch to everything we do is a must for us – the update brings a new softness to the rooms: reupholstered vintage armchairs, crisp new fabrics on headboards, beds, and curtains, and custom cushions that nod to period style while feeling entirely of the now.

Nothing is off-brand. Everything is just right. The transformation is quiet and confident, a reflection of La Posta Vecchia’s DNA: a perfect blend of grandeur and restraint, with just the right touch of modern indulgence.

By next season, all 21 rooms will have been reimagined – each one a gentle layering of history, elegance, and thoughtful comfort. But there’s no need to wait: the newly refreshed rooms are ready to be lived in, lingered in, and loved.

And that’s not all.

Because we never like to do things halfway, we also decided to give the palazzo’s private beach a little refresh, with a little sprinkle of our Pelli magic. Our private cove – a small, protected crescent of pale sand that’s as charming as it is cinematic – is now lined with lemon-yellow umbrellas and navy-striped loungers, feeling more la dolce vita than ever – and ready to welcome external guests, too. The Mediterranean sparkles just beyond the breakwater, and from the garden terrace, an espresso in hand, it’s easy to forget the rest of the world exists.

We’ve always loved La Posta Vecchia, but this summer, it’s better than ever.
