How to Nail Christmas Home Decor, the ISSIMO Way
Turn your home into a festive wonderland with our tips and products
Ah, the air is getting crisper, and the twinkling lights are making their grand comeback – which means one thing: the festive season is officially on! That extends to your home, too: It’s time to sprinkle a bit of holiday magic into your living space, and turn your dining room, lounge and overall abode into a cosy winter haven.
You don’t need a Christmas miracle for that; just a dash of creativity, a pinch of festive spirit, and maybe a strategically placed decorative piece or two.
Here are our tips for a fabulously cheerful home makeover. Take note and get shopping!
Deck the halls (and everything else!)
A key trick to bring some festive cheer into your household? Don’t hold back on the decorations. Deck out your space with ornaments, garlands, and tinsel. Hang festive wreaths on doors, adorn shelves with beautiful, dried flowers, and, of course, let the stockings hang with care. The key is to create a visual feast that sparkles and delights.
Even better? Transform your Christmas tree into a bellISSIMO statement piece with thoughtfully positioned twinkly lights and fun, stylish baubles to get your greenery sparkling above the rest. We of course recommend our very own ISSIMO ones, inspired by the traditions and classic symbols of Italy. We’ve bet few of your friends have seen a vespa hanging among the shrubs!
Scent-sational cheer
Candles are to Christmas what olive branches are to Easter: Essentials. So fill your rooms with the smell of fresh herbs to instantly transport you into a Christmas bakery or a snowy pine forest. Or, why not, add a touch of Italy to your home decor with Labsolue candles inspired by our hotels – rosemary for Il Pellicano, cypriol for La Posta Vecchia and thyme for Mezzatorre.
With their heady aromas, arresting packaging and delightful cocooning properties, these home scents will do more for the house than most accessories.
Inspired play
No festive home would be complete without a tradition that gathers friends and family around the table. We’re not talking about food – though that’s of course pretty important – but board games. Whether it’s the strategic manoeuvring of pieces on a classic chessboard, the uproarious laughter from a round of charades, or the suspenseful roll of dice in a heated game of Monopoly, board games are more than just pastimes – they’re woven into the very fabric of Christmas celebrations. They bridge generations, creating bonds and memories that endure long after the final move is made.
Our personal favourite, of course, is the Monopoly ISSIMO. A fun celebration of Italianità, it’ll take you around the boot-country on an all-Italian road trip, to explore incredible iconic locations and hidden treasures, delicious food, beautiful traditions, and storied artisans from the comfort of your couch.
Add some character
If you’re hosting a big Christmas feast this holiday season, give guests an extra reason to fall in love with your tablescape by going beyond the classic holly, red and berries decorations.
Our top tip? Place a statement centrepiece in the middle like Bitossi Ceramiche Ettore Sottsass Vase Goblet; and, at dessert time, forego classic Santa-themed napkins for the much sleeker and delicately starry ISSIMO x Villeroy & Boch Giotto line of teapot, saucers, cups and big plates upon which to serve your treats. Dreamy, if you ask us.
Show off your stockings
Ok, the ISSIMO x Schostal Socks aren’t exactly ‘stockings,’ but they sure look the part when it comes to housing your gifts – or just show off your own personal style when your guests come in (we love a no-shoes party!). Plush, supremely comfortable and timelessly chic, they’re made to be seen, worn with love, and gifted to anyone you care about. Or, why not, host your small presents and gifts.
Dress up the table
Forget overly ornate tablecloths. Turn your table into an elegant work of art that’ll have everyone talking with a subtle set like the ISSIMO Starry Embroidered Placemats and Napkins, or a bold and vibrant number like Le Tre Sarte Double Faced Linen Tablecloth – a sure attention-grabber once you’ve placed your glassware, garlands and plates on it.
Both are great examples of a cool yet understated festive look – because if you’re planning on hosting the holiday feast, the table should be as memorable as the menu.
