Giving back to our beaches
Discover how Pellicano Hotels is caring for our beaches in collaboration with Marevivo
“We are lucky to have the opportunity to experience the beauty of the sea that surrounds us and we think it is our duty to respect it and preserve its uniqueness,” says Marie-Louise Sciò, CEO & Creative Director of Pellicano Hotels.
It’s true, our beaches give us so much; beauty, biodiversity, an energising place to recharge, and an overall sense of wellbeing. In fact, they’re like a second home for many of us! That’s why we are mindful of taking every opportunity to safeguard them, particularly in the regions where our hotels are located.
Pellicano Hotels was proud to join collaborators Marevivo during a series of recent beach clean-up initiatives. The staff at our three hotels spent a day assisting the environmental organisation’s volunteers in activities focussed on the protection of the marine ecosystems at three beaches that are very close to our hearts, and our hotels: Chiaia di Forio (Ischia), Marina di San Nicola (Ladispoli) and L’Acqua Dolce (Porto Ercole).
Now in its fourth year, the collaboration with Marevivo is part of Pellicano Hotels’ Il Dolce Far Bene sustainability program that inspires both staff and guests to give back to the environment. Read on to discover more about how we supported Marevivo’s ‘Adopt a Beach’ beach clean-up activities recently, and why we’re committed to playing our part in taking care of the planet.
PRESERVING THE CHARM OF LADISPOLI’S SHORES
Guests at La Posta Vecchia often take a short walk or bike ride from the hotel to discover the ancient ruins and tranquil beauty of Marina di San Nicola nearby on the Palo Laziale coastline in Ladispoli. The little commune is a captivating mix of archaeological gems, parks, heritage villas, and of course, it has its own beach, which is a secret getaway destination for many Roman holiday-makers during summer.
Led by Marevivo’s Lazio Regional Delegation, La Posta Vecchia’s staff participated in a clean-up of the Marina di San Nicola beach, focussing on reducing plastic pollution on the coastline that gets washed up from the sea. This collective effort saw the removal of 130 kg of waste (which included 68 kg of plastic), as well as glass, paper and other mixed waste from the stretch of coastline that borders La Posta Vecchia.

SAFEGUARDING PORTO ERCOLE’S COASTLINE
With its secluded position tucked away amongst Porto Ercole’s sparkling blue coastline near Hotel Il Pellicano, Spiaggia L’Aqua Dolce feels like a private coastal haven that always delights our guests when they discover it, sometimes unexpectedly! It’s one of those special places where you can disconnect from the rest of the world, breathe a little more deeply, and be truly immersed in seaside serenity.
A secret go-to spot for Monte Argentario locals, this beach also has a special place in our hearts as a Hotel Il Pellicano’s ‘neighbour.’ Staff were delighted to join Marevivo’s representatives in a recent clean-up initiative, and their efforts saw the removal of over 140 kg of waste from the beach’s coastline which included metal, plastic and glass.
KEEPING THE ‘GREEN ISLAND’ PRISTINE
Pellicano Hotels’ ongoing collaboration with Marevivo inspires us to be a little more mindful about the importance of taking care of our beloved beaches all year round. It also demonstrates how small but consistent conservation efforts make a big difference when it comes to protecting them now, and for future generations.
