Nothing says ‘summer chic’ quite like a Slim Aarons photograph. Does it? It’s no secret that we’re utterly besotted by the iconic American photographer here at ISSIMO, often fantasising about diving into one of his images and mingling poolside with immaculate jet-setters and socialites, or lounging about with celebrities on sunkissed coastlines.
Well guess what, our new ISSIMO X Lido swimwear collaboration captures all the colour, timeless elegance and nostalgic glamour of Slim Aarons’ photography, setting the mood for an impossibly chic Italian summer.
Slim Aarons’ Eternal Summer
Whether it’s a family of bronzed holiday-makers launching on Italy’s most pristine islands, or European socialites soaking up August rays by the Pool at Hotel Il Pellicano (indeed, the photographer was no stranger to Porto Ercole throughout the 70s and 80s!) Slim Aarons’ photographs are a constant source of creative inspiration for us. He didn’t just capture a scene, but rather, he captured the eternal sweetness of a summer moment. You can only imagine our mood board for this collaboration with Lido, which was covered with his photographs!
Slim Aarons offers us a tantalising glimpse into the ‘resort wardrobe’ of jet-setters and style elite through the decades he spent photographing subjects in their most beloved holiday destinations including Sardinia, Capri, and the Tuscan coastline. From sarongs to palazzo pants, turbans to two-tone bikinis, the colour palettes, silhouettes and styles we see in his photographs are our idea of ultimate summer glamour!
